PerVigil Announces PVLmon Upgrade Program

PerVigil today announced the kickoff of a new upgrade program for PerVigil�s Application monitoring tool for OVPI, PVLmon. The upgrade program is designed to assist customers in upgrading to the latest version of PVLmon and to ensure that each customer takes full advantage of PVLmon�s powerful capabilities.

Hewlett-Packard shipped PVLmon free of charge with OVPI starting with the release of OVPI 4.6 in July 2003.

The version of PVLmon provided by HP is preconfigured to monitor OVPI and notify the OVPI administrator of any issues affecting the operation of OVPI, such as problems with data collection, data rollup, database access, report access, and many other potential issues. PVLmon is a very powerful and flexible application monitoring tool that analyzes critical components of applications and their host servers. When problems are detected notification is sent to the application administrator so that issues can be addressed quickly and application availability can be maximized. PVLmon also provides a number of OVPI automation and administration tools that simplify the operation of OVPI.

A few customers have not installed PVLmon because they may have thought that it was provided on a trial basis. Any OVPI customer who purchased OVPI since July 1 2003 owns a PVLmon license and should start taking advantage of it immediately.

Upgrade Program Details:

The upgrade program provides existing customers with a free upgrade to PVLmon 4.1 and telephone support from PerVigil to assist them with the installation process. The installation process is very simple and many customers do not need assistance. However, PerVigil consultants are available during normal business hours to assist with any unusual circumstances that may exist in a customer�s environment.

Upgrade Process:

1. Download the latest version of PVLmon: http://www.pervigil.com/Register.cfm
2. PerVigil support will use the registration information provided by you to email a temporary activation key for PVLmon. The email will also request the OVPI purchase information needed to generate a permanent key for PVLmon.
3. Reply to PerVigil support with the information requested. If you are upgrading an existing PVLmon install and already have a permanent key for PVLmon, you do not need to provide the information requested.
4. In the above mentioned reply, request a specific date and time to have a PerVigil consultant assist you with the installation process. Assistance is available 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Central time, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.
5. Prepare for the installation by reading the PVLmon user guide. Ensure that all prerequisites are met before the scheduled installation time. Also study PVLmon features and make note of questions you may have about taking full advantage of those features. Taking these steps will enable you to complete the installation more quickly and take full advantage of PVLmon�s capabilities.
6. At the time of your appointment, call the PerVigil tech support line (972-759-0228) for PVLmon installation assistance.
